Travel Skincare Should Not Be Difficult

As I get older, preparing my travel toiletry bag has presented new challenges for skin and beauty needs. I rarely, if ever, check a bag. I can squeeze a weeks worth of clothes in a carry on. For this reason, I just can’t take every single one of my favorite beauty products with me. When I was younger this was just fine. My skin didn’t require as much daily maintenance!

Its funny to notice the difference in travel needs between myself and my daughters. For them, it is all about makeup options. For me…its all about skincare products. I feel I need everything! What about the cream for my dark eye circles? Or the toner and moisturizer for my dry skin? Sunscreen to prevent even MORE wrinkles! And I definitely can’t be without a mild exfoliator and my tretinoin cream. Oh…don’t forget those plumping eye patches! Please tell me you understand what I mean.

What has made life easier for me? A combination of travel gift sets and old favorites. I plan to share a quick review of my thoughts on different sets over the course of my travels. Today, let’s talk Whamisa.

Over the past few years, I have come to rely more and more on travel gift sets. These are the ideal size because I finish most of them while I am away, leaving less to pack when heading home. During my last trip I used products from Whamisa. I purchased the Organic Flowers Toner (love it!) and received a set of travel sized products with the order. This was perfect since I was scheduled for a trip to Florida shortly after I received them.

I really liked this set. I received the cleansing oil, foaming gel cleanser, cream cleanser, as well as the lotion. My routine involved using the cream cleanser and lotion in the morning along with my sunscreen and eye cream. At night, I used my Foreo Play to do a double cleanse with the cleansing oil and foaming gel cleanser. This was followed by my triple creams – tretinoin, night cream and evening eye cream.

First of all, the products smell great. I know it isn’t all about the scent, but I do find that the way a product smells makes a difference to me. The cleansing oil and foaming gel have a clean, floral scent. Very similar to the toner I use regularly. They left my skin feeling fresh and clean. I particularly liked the cleansing oil. It was great for removing the makeup and ‘yuck’ from the day.

I used the lotion only in the morning. It was light enough not to feel too heavy on the skin, yet seemed to really help lock in moisture. This was important because it was hot and humid in Florida. A heavier lotion may have made my skin look and feel oily over my sunscreen.

Not only did the products work well with the rest of my routine, but a little went a long way with these travel sizes. I used them for 6 days and have enough to use for an upcoming weekend trip. My only regret is that I didn’t bring the toner with me and I definitely missed it. There is something different about toner in Korean skincare. It’s super hydrating. Whamisa sells a full travel set that I would consider purchasing in the future to have more of their products available for an expanded travel regimen.

Additional travel tip

Please remember that staying hydrated is just as important for your complexion as those skincare products. Probably even more so. I think as we get older the look of our skin relies even more on drinking plenty of water while traveling. This isn’t just for plane travel. I feel the same during road trips. My husband and I do a fair amount of car travel. I can definitely tell the difference in my skin when I don’t drink enough on the road. Since neither of us can go very long without a bathroom break anyway (the joys of getting older..), there is no excuse not to stay hydrated. Let’s be honest, you don’t want dry, flaky skin and a dull complexion when you arrive at your destination. So take an empty water bottle and fill up often!

If you have a travel set that you recommend, I would love to hear about it! I am always on the lookout for good products!

Best,

Donna
